A man was decapitated in a head-on collision on the N2 near Mandini in the early hours of Sunday.
KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu said initial indications were that the driver lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the oncoming lane where it collided with a lorry.
She said the truck driver told traffic officials that he believed the car was driving at a high speed.
