Public Protector Thuli Madonsela on Saturday slammed those who are trying to derail her work.

Members of Parliament and the ruling party have questioned Madonsela's impartiality during investigations, prompting the Justice Department to launch an investigation into her conduct.

Madonsela insists her office has done well in making communities aware of the role of the Public Protector.

She visited a shopping centre in Diepsloot on Saturday as part of the good governance awareness campaign.

The advocate said her office has performed beyond expectation since she took over as public protector.

She said there were a few individuals who were hell-bent on tarnishing her office's image.

"A few mischievous people from the ruling party are trying to divert the attention of my office."

Madonsela said the fact her office was gaining popularity within many communities is proof that they were doing a good job.
