The Mandela residence in Houghton, south of Johannesburg, was abuzz with visitors on Saturday.

The 94-year-old former president has been home for four days, after being discharged from a Pretoria hospital this week.

There were about 10 cars parked outside the Mandela resident and a number of vehicles could be seen earlier parking inside the yard.

A convoy of official cars was also seen entering the property and leaving it.

Some of the vehicles that are parked outside the 94 year old statesman’s house had military number plates.

Mandela is receiving home-based high care since being discharged from a Pretoria medical facility on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, Madiba’s grandchild, Zaziwe Manaway reportedly told CNN that Mandela was "alert."

Madiba was admitted to the Pretoria hospital on 8 December to receive treatment for a lung infection and later underwent a procedure to remove gallstones.
