Firefighters in Cape Town were still battling a fire raging in the Milnerton area on Tuesday morning.
The blaze swept through the Du Noon informal settlement in the early hours.
Paramedics said it was not immediately known whether there had been any injuries or deaths.
It is also not yet clear if any shacks have been destroyed.
Officials were hard at work trying to contain the blaze, but wind speeds between 80 and 90km/h were recorded in the Mother City overnight, hampering their efforts.
The autopsy report of Reeva Steenkamp has been completed and handed over to authorities.
