A man was admitted at hospital after an off-duty firefighter rescued him from drowning on Saturday afternoon in Broadway, Durban North, paramedics said.
The firefighter arrived just on time to pull out the 35-year-old, who was near drowning, from a pool in Kensington Drive, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.
"He was placed on a ventilator and skilfully immobilised on a trauma board before being transported to a local hospital," said Botha.
The exact details as to how he landed in the pool were unknown.
