A group of Cape Town cyclists were filmed beating up a motorist in an apparent road rage incident on Sunday.
The video footage shows one cyclist slamming his bike into the driver's door before another rider pepper sprays the driver. The driver is then punched in the face several times while his passenger is also attacked.
According to witness Symon Scott, the incident occurred on Beach Road in Sea Point. The group of riders were approaching the stationary vehicle, which the witness says was double parked. The leader of the riding group reportedly did not see the vehicle and narrowly avoided riding into the vehicle.
The group leader stopped and then confronted the motorists, who were allegedly volunteer workers cleaning up the Pavillion following the completion of the Nelson Mandela Commemorative 10km Big Walk.
Scott, who filmed the incident, went to the police and laid a charge against the cyclists. The victims of the road rage incident have also laid a charge against the cyclists. Scott has appealed to the public to help identify the cyclists.
