The ANC is expected to meet with the ANCYL leadership to discuss the latest controversial comments by Julius Malema directed at Education Minister Naledi Pandor.
Spokesperson Jessie Duarte said on Friday this was not a disciplinary hearing, just a meeting with the league to discuss the matter.
Malema, whom the Inkatha Freedom Party had called the "grand hero" of opposition parties, had apologised for saying Pandor "must use her fake accent to address our problems," while addressing striking workers and students at the Tshwane University of Technology.
"I write this letter to unconditionally apologise for those remarks," read Malema's letter.
The African National Congress, which had previously accused the media of "Malemaphobia" over its reporting of his often outspoken comments, issued a statement saying the comments were unacceptable and disrespectful and against the party's culture.
