ANC Youth League president Julius Malema was prevented from entering
the University of Zululand (Unizulu), allegedly by a group
of IFP-affiliated students.
ANC spokeswoman Nomfundo Mcetywa said a large group of Inkatha
Freedom Party students belonging to the SA Democratic Student Movement
(Sadesmo) had blockaded the entrance, refusing to allow Malema to
enter.
Malema earlier visited the Mangosuthu University of Technology in
Umlazi where he addressed students. He was due to speak at Unizulu as
well.
Police spokeswoman Director Phindile Radebe confirmed that a group
had blocked the entrance but they later dispersed.
"Police were sent there... but no unlawful act was committed.
Therefore no arrests were made," she said.
