A public hotline is being set up for members of the public who have concerns and queries around swine flu.

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi on Thursday launched an enhanced education campaign around the virus.

This will see letters about swine flu being sent to various community leaders, MPs, principals, rectors and health workers.

Government has a functional hotline for health workers but it is understood the National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the Health Department are being flooded with public queries.

Motsoaledi said a new channel was being set up: "In addition to this existing hotline, we shall have a shared call number in operation by Wednesday next week for members of the public and not only workers."
