Zimbabwe's capital Harare has started closing some of its cholera treatment centres. The outbreak has killed 4000 people and affected close to 100 000 others.

The city council dismantled tents because they were not getting new patients.

Tents at Budiriro Poly Clinic, which was at the centre of the outbreak last year, were being dismantled.

The city's health director said the clinic was reverting to its normal function.

Beatrice Infectious Diseases Hospital was now admitting patients with HIV, TB and Aids but aid agencies warned it was too soon to declare cholera over.

Last month the International Federation of the Red Cross said unless huge efforts were made to repair the water and sanitation infrastructure, communities would still be vulnerable to severe outbreaks.
