Party president Jacob Zuma has warned ANC supporters to
refrain from intolerance and declaring places as no go areas for other
parties, SABC reported.
Addressing ANC supporters at Bakenberg outside Mokopane in Limpopo,
Zuma told them not to disrupt other parties' meetings.
Cope has opened an assault case against ANC members following an
incident in Seshego in Limpopo over the weekend.
The DA has also accused ANC supporters of intimidation after its
members allegedly barricaded a community hall in an attempt to stop DA
leader Helen Zille from speaking. The ANC has denied this.
Meanwhile, the Independent Electoral Commission has since warned
political parties contesting next months' general elections that they
stand the risk of having their registration revoked if they fail to
adhere to the electoral Code of Conduct.
This is after the parties signed a public pledge, promising not to
engage in acts of violence, intimidation or the promotion of no-go
areas.
