President Jacob Zuma has called for faster response times in dealing with corruption cases.

Zuma was responding to comments made by delegates in the National Council of Provinces on Thursday.

He said the way in which corruption cases were handled needed changing, especially the pace at which they were dealt with.

"At times people are suspended for a long time — with pay — while the issue is being handled and at times it's very difficult to handle it."

Zuma warned if corruption was not dealt with swiftly, the country’s citizens may take the law into their own hands.
