Former Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe’s thesis has finally been made public, four years after she was awarded a doctorate by the University of Zimbabwe.
She was controversially awarded the degree just months after she was first reported to be enrolled.
It’s taken nearly four years for the thesis to be made public.
The delay had raised suspicions that Mugabe’s PhD was fraudulently awarded.
Doctorates are seen as a prestige symbol among the politically ambitious, and until her husband’s resignation last year, Mugabe had her sights set on the highly political office.
University of Zimbabwe academics recently called for a probe into how she obtained her degree, saying they knew nothing about it until the day she graduated in 2014.
The thesis is now available on the university website; it looks at the plight of orphans and Mugabe says the research took two years.
