Permanent secretaries of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) met at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Thursday.

President Kgalema Motlanthe, in his capacity as head of Sadc, was joined by secretaries from the Sadc region to discuss several issues including the New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad).

On the issue of Nepad, the meeting noted the need to foster cohesion and economic integration in the Sadc.

The meeting also resolved to ensure the implantation of Sadc resolutions within the respective countries.

The meeting was attended by, among others, representatives from Mozambique Zimbabwe, Namibia and Lesotho.
