The United Nations said on Monday it needed $2.7-million (R24.2-million) to help Namibia deal with the aftermath of recent floods.

An estimated 13 000 Namibians were displaced by heavy rains since the beginning of the year, while over 90 had died.

The UN appealed to the international community to pitch in.

Spokesperson Kelly David said the Namibian government had done all it could to fund relief efforts.

David said more rain was forecast for the region.
