Swedish customs officials seized 8991 Viagra tablets during a routine control at a post office near Malmoe in southern Sweden, a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The shipment of the potency pill was sent to an address in the country, the spokeswoman told AFP, but she would not disclose the sender.

News agency TT reported that the package came from Britain.

"There's an investigation going on for smuggling," the spokeswoman said.

She said large quantities of Viagra were regularly seized by customs during routine controls.
