Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe is reportedly receiving treatment in a Dubai hospital because of a serious health scare.

The Times has reported that the 85-year-old was whisked off in secret to a United Arab Emirates hospital on Sunday.

The newspaper stated that the ageing statesman is being treated by a Malaysian urologist who has been attending to his prostate condition for several years.

His daughter Bona is believed to have travelled from Hong Kong to Dubai to be with her father.

Mugabe has never admitted to claims that he has prostate cancer but claims rather that his doctors have given him a clean bill of health.

According to Zanu-PF sources, Mugabe is expected to be back in the country before President Jacob Zuma's scheduled visit on Thursday.
