United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday Iran must now decide to take up the offer from the United States and other powers to discuss its suspect nuclear program.

"We have made clear our desire to" engage Iran, Clinton told foreign policy experts before the UN General Assembly in New York next week.

"Iran must now decide to join us in this effort," she added, ahead of a key meeting between Iran and six powers on October 1.
