About 40 miners were trapped underground after a coal mine tunnel collapsed in southwest China on Thursday, state media said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the collapse at the Anlilai coal mine in Guizhou province, but some workers managed to escape to safety, Xinhua said.
Rescue workers were at the scene to verify the exact number of trapped miners, the official news agency added.
The mine has an annual production capacity of 210,000 tonnes.
